where are the colours

I presume when I configure a shortcut, my colour choices are stored somehow in the tiny *.lnk file. However, It seems that colours sometimes work for *.btm files I trigger the task scheduler. How does TCC know what colours to use? Does in look for shortcuts? Does it have some sort of cache? Does it have a way its own internal list of colours to use for various btm files when that file was configured while running.

Whatever this mechanism is, it seems unreliable. Colours revert often to defaults. Perhaps if I understood better how it works, I would have more success.

The simple answer is that unless you've set colors in TCMD.INI (via OPTION /
Windows / Colors), then the console colors are always set by Windows
(usually from default registry settings for all console windows).
