What software do You use to work with this forums?

In these forums, it is difficult for me to follow threads that have many messages.
I mean more than only a few.
This happens especially if a thread has many messages, some of which have been added after the latest time I read that thread, so that I have to find which messages are new.
I tried to change my settings so that it should show 40 messages per time, in hybrid mode, but still it shows only few messages (the hybrid mode works).
This happens using internet explorer and firefox.
What software do You use to work with this forums?
How did You configure it?
Are You satisfied?

Thank You very much again and regards

You mean that You get email messages with all messages that appear here?
It seems too much for me, anyway I would like to try it, how did You configure exactly outlook?

Thank You very much again and regards

I have the display mode set to Linear for when I visit the forums via a browser.

I tried it, but it was still difficult for me to follow sub threads.
For example, Your answer (and this re-answer) and Kachupp's answer (and my re-answer) might be considered two different sub threads.
So, I like to see that there is a new message under which sub thread.

Thank You very much again and regards

In other words, many of us do use NO browser - we have each post delivered as a separate email to our mail client, and read them as if the forum were a newsgroup. We can also answer from the mail client. All posts are received in the order they were originally posted. One of the benefits is that the mail client downloads the messages to our system, where we can retain them for as long (or as little) as we want, and once downloaded, we can read them even if we do not have internet access. If we answer a post when internet is not available, it is sent when connection is restored. Disadvantage is that the formatting often gets mangled, and downloading may be delayed by the forum software (this is especially visible about our own posts if we choose to have them reported back to us).

Yes, I get a separate email for any message posted. Not really too much - you don't need to do what I did, select EVERY forum and subforum. You can ignore anything that does not look relevant.

The first step is to set your Forum "User CP" - in Settings and Options, select "Edit Options". The most important element to set is in the "Messaging and Notification" panel, the second subpanel "Default Thread Subscription Mode" - set this to the (misleading) value "Instant email notification" - this is the value which "notifies" you be sending you the new post as an email message. The other settings are fairly selfexplanatory.

BTW, I read your post in Outlook Express, and replied to it there, too.

In most mail clients you can create a separate folder for each forum and subforum, and set up "message rules" so all posts are automatically delivered to their respective folder as they are received.

My setting is already in this way, but I get a message through email only for answers to my messages.
How did You get for example my first message with my original question?

Thank You very much again and regards

Years ago there was a page on the forum, IIRC accessed through the "User CP" page, where you could choose your "notification" for each forum and subforum that existed at the time, independently. However, today I cannot locate that page on the forum! In fact I hoped that by "unsubscribing" form one of them, that list would show up, but it did not. So at the moment I am just as stuck as you. Since Rex might not watch this forum, so I will switch to TCC Support forum.

In that same "Messaging and Notification" panel that Steve mentioned, the bottom option is "Email Lists - Receive notification for own posts?" I have that enabled.

As for subscribing to the forums and the all-in-one page being gone, it looks like you now have to go into each forum and subscribe to it individually. Start at the link below, click a forum, click Forum Tools in the upper right and choose "Subscribe to This Forum".

Kind of a pain, but at least there aren't that many forums. :)

I have forum messages delivered as email, to my GMail account. I use
labels and filters in GMail to classify the messages by forum origin.
It's equivalent to folders in something like Outlook, but is
implemented differently.

I read GMail in Firefox. While I can have GMail deliver mail via POP,
I don't. I prefer the web interface, and have no need for local
copies of 99.9% of the mail I get. If I do need a local copy of
something, it's easy enough to get one.

Using Firefox provides additional advantages: the architecture of
Mozilla products makes it possible to create extensions that alter and
enhance how the browser works, and I use a number. Some of them are
specifically designed to alter and enhance GMail usage.

By default, GMail groups messages into "conversations", which are just
made for this sort of traffic. Messages are sorted chronologically by
Subject, with most recent first.

My GMail mail store allocation is at 7.6GB and counting, with 51% of
it used. I don't worry about missing mail because my mailbox on my
ISP account got full and overflowed. (This happened occasionally when
I was still using POP and Outlook.) I also don't worry about problems
occurring when the local mail store file gets too big. (Older
versions of Outlook behaved *very* strangely when the mailbox.pst file
grew larger than 2GB.)

Essentially, my GMail mailstore is a database, searchable using
standard Google search routines. Labels are arbitrary index keys into
the database.
