why add the /k switch to the shell command?

and why its *cdd and not cdd ?

why add the /k switch to the shell command?

So the console window will stay open, so the user is able to read any messages.

and why its *cdd and not cdd ?

In case the user has any strange and broken aliases for the CDD command.
