start/tab of a GUI program hangs TCMD

E.g.
start/tab C:\WINDOWS\system32\notepad.exe
yields a dialog
Invalid descriptor "AttachConsole"
you then have to click on the "X" exit button and then "Terminate now" (or otherwise kill the process) -- therefore you don't notice immediately that the mention of "AttachConsole" is the clue to the problem.

It is of course pointless to start/tab a GUI program; it happened to me while I was playing around with my aliases.

Your message starts with "e.g." - what is it an example of? I have no idea
what your message is all about. The message header ("subject") is NOT part
of the message, and is nearly unreadable in many mail or news clients!

You must be tired Steve .. Start /Tab c:\windows\system32\notepad.exe
does produce the message

No, just in a hurry not to go through the screen resolution change to read
the "subject". The message body starts with "E.g." - the Latin abbreviation
of "For example". The underlying problem is not described in the message
body. I do not blindly test everything mentioned in the NG to figure out for
myself what somebody INTENDED to write, but did not actually write.

Netiquette requires messages to be understandable without the "subject".

Ummm.... No. In fact, according to RFC 1855 the subject should be as meaningful as possible. Other netiquette guidelines found via Google suggest that a message consisting only of a subject is acceptable, depending upon the group. Since there is not a netiquette guideline available for this group (that I could find at least) such behavior can not be considered unacceptable. Even those of us who have been on the JPSoft forums for a long time, who are familiar with your preferences, occasionally forget and post something important in the subject line without repeating it in the body.

http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc1855.txt

The funny thing is instead of trying to change everyone else's behavior, you could just use a different email/news reader that more effectively displays the subject or use the html forum interface. Trying to enforce your needs on everyone else will *always* be a losing battle.
