If the name of a COMMAND, _VARIABLE, or @FUNCTION contains (or is adjacent to) the insertion point or has been selected with a 2-click, then either Ctrl-F1 or the menu's dynamic help take you to the desired help page.
And (I don't how new this is) if the COMMAND, _VARIABLE, or @FUNCTION comes from a plugin which provides quick help, that help is displayed in the console.
I don't think it can get much better than that.
